Being Warm and fashionable

Its winter and its getting increasingly cold even in Hyderabad. Every where I look nowadays there are women wearing sweatshirts and other loose jackets to shield themselves from the cold. I do not have anything against wearing sweatshirts at home over pyjamas to keep yourself warm at night, but sweatshirts at work? Not professional and definitely not pretty.

One other thing that works against sweatshirts is the fact that they completely morph a woman's figure into a oversized rectangle, no matter what size you are. They also almost always come in dreary dark colours that anyone can carry off but no one actually looks good in.

So I set out to negate all the above with my outfit for today. Of course the sleeves of the top can be longer to effectively shield the cold. Also I am envisioning that the entire outfit is made of wool for maximum Hotness :-P

Take a look...

Accessories: Black pointy toe boots with black tights, small dangling earrings, a black/white bomber jacket if needed.

Make up: Shimmery eyes, nude mouth with gloss.

Not the same old LBD

One of the must-haves in any girl's closet is a Little Black Dress (LBD). So of course I had to have one. I went searching in Hyderabad for an LBD one evening when I had to attend a party. Long story short, after battling traffic for a couple hours and looking at about 20 stores all over the city I could not even find one LBD. I then had to settle for a black dress which had an asymmetrical hem and did not fit me right.

That night at the party I was way too conscious of what I was wearing. This is the opposite of what a LBD is supposed to make you feel. Needless to say, I have never worn that dress since.

So as I doodled away my fashionable outfit ideas, I set out to create my perfect little black dress. Now if you know me, you know that I like color in my outfits. So my LBD was going to have some color which would highlight the black. So here is my first attempt.

Accessories: Wear Yellow or Green open toe pumps, Yellow bangles or a bracelet and big dangling earrings.

Make up: Dark/Smoky eyes, may be with a hint of green eye shadow and shimmery neutral gloss.

Saree Inspiration

Have you ever looked at a whole lot of sarees that are laid out in a store and wondered how so many diverse colors could co-exist in the same outfit? I have! Today! When my mum bought a new saree.

In fact, I would say not just sarees but any Indian outfit can mix 2 or more colors from opposite ends of the spectrum and make it look good. Case in point, bollywood movies and the use of bright orange and bright pink together :-O I must admit though on the silver screen it looks good. Is it the photography? Is it the Gorgeous movie star or is it the color combination?
I am going to assume for this blogpost that it is the color combination.

So, taking my inspiration from my mum's new saree, I tried some colors that I have never tried to mix before in today's outfit. Pink and Purple together. Yes, I accept that its not as bold as Pink and orange together, but I am conservative. So take a look and see if you like it.

Accessories: I would pair this outfit with Grey or White open toe pumps for shoes, little dangling earrings and may be a bold bracelet.

Checkered life

In school, have you ever absent-mindedly scribbled in your note book when the teacher is going on and on with his/her boring lesson that neither interests you nor enlightens you? Well I did... and my doodles were always criss crossing lines that were filled with pencil shading in alternate boxes. The doodles looked exactly like the top of this outfit.

I read some where that criss crossing lines in doodles indicate an experience of harsh reality and a need for comfort. So after reading that I got inspired to create my own version of a comfortable work outfit which will make me forget my harsh realities when I wear it. This was the result.

To read more about what your doodles mean, you can check this link

Accessories: Ankle/Knee length Boots, Hoop earrings, Black Pea Coat or a Leather biker jacket.

I am Seeing Pink!

I am not very fond of the color 'Baby Pink.' I think this color has no personality and can ape the personality of what ever you choose to team it with. So I created this design where a bold vertical striped skirt is paired with a simple baby pink top.

When I first drew the design that was developing in my head out on the paper, the boldness of the outfit hit me right in the face. But as I kept looking at the design, it gave me the feeling that who ever wore this would feel very feminine as well.

So here is my attempt at being a total girly-girl while making a bold statement

You can pair this outfit with black boots, black booties or basic black pumps. You may also want to try a bold necklace with it.
